Dr. Ralph Napolitano’s Work Using Bioactive Glass Technology Wins SAWC Fall 2024 People’s Choice Award
Ralph J. Napolitano, Jr., DPM, CWSP, FACFAS, the Director of Wound Care and Healing with OrthoNeuro together with his research team was recognized recently at the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) Fall 2024 for their innovative research using Bioactive glass. Out of nearly 400 abstracts submitted, a record for SAWC Fall abstract submissions, their work was awarded the People’s Choice Award for a case series highlighting lower extremity wound cases.
Voted on by over 3,000 SAWC attendees representing more than 25 countries around the globe, the poster created by Dr. Napolitano, Jr., James Wischmeier, OMS II, and Samir Balraj, BS, examined how lower extremity wounds from a variety of etiologies saw successful outcomes after the application of bioactive glass wound matrix. Titled “Bioactive Glass Effectively Heals Complex Lower Extremity Wounds: A Case Series“, the poster further vindicates the use of bioactive glass technology for treating patients with the most challenging wounds. In fact, nine of the top 15 People’s Choice Award nominees included bioactive glass technology in their findings.
